Bold prediction has Vic Fangio fired midseason

Jul 14, 2021, 5:30 PM

Vic Fangio has been on the hot seat for the Denver Broncos after two losing season and a winless September in 2020, but Bleacher Report believes the head coach could be fired in the middle of the upcoming season.

In a recent article, Bleacher Report made nine bold predictions for the 2021 season and believes Fangio will be relieved of his coaching duties before the season ends.

The head coach has gone 12-20 over his first two seasons. He now also has a quarterback battle between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater that could very much seal his fate with the organization.

No pressure, right?

“With a new front-office executive who may want to hire a head coach of his choosing and two uninspiring quarterbacks vying for the starting role, Fangio could lose his job if Denver falls out of playoff contention by December,” Maurice Moton wrote.

With the reality setting in that Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers probably won’t be in the cards for Denver, the big question remains if the Broncos will be able to put points on the board with either Lock or Bridgewater.

“Though the Broncos should field a top-10 defense with high-end playmakers such as Von Miller, Bradley Chubb, Kyle Fuller and Justin Simmons, they might struggle to maximize their offensive talent,” Moton wrote.

Lock has started 18 games in his career and recorded 23 touchdowns to 18 interceptions. Bridgewater obviously has a veteran status attached to his name, but he only averaged fewer than 250 passing yards and 15 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in 15 starts with the Carolina Panthers last year.

However, it is no questions that the Broncos have a loaded and talented roster that could contend if the quarterback play stayed consistent.

But will an upgrade at quarterback save Fangio’s job? Only time will tell.

If the head coach leads the Broncos to another sub-.500 season consider his time in Denver over.
