Broncos All-Time Roster: Howard Griffith tops fullbacks

The Denver Broncos have seen a plethora of talented players since the merger of the American and National Football Leagues in 1970.

While it may be easy for Broncos Country to explain why a particular quarterback or running back is the best of his generation, this list is here to tackle which Broncos players are the best of all time.

Every Fan host was tasked with ranking top Broncos players’ skillsets to come up with the greatest Broncos roster.

This all-time roster will have a few no-brainers on it, but ultimately the Fan hosts decided who was the best of the best.

Howard Griffith

The Denver Broncos signed Howard Griffith in 1997. He made a huge impact for Terrell Davis and helped to improve the Broncos’ scoring offense — going from fourth to first in the NFL.

Davis rushed for 1,750 yards in 1997 and then eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark in 1998 as the league MVP. In the playoffs, Griffith helped Davis become a transcendent runner; Davis averaged 145.3 rushing yards per game in the 1997 postseason and 156 rushing yards per game in the 1998 playoffs as the Broncos won back-to-back Super Bowls.

Griffith blocked for six 1,000-yard rushers over eight NFL seasons (including four 1,000-yard rushers in Denver over four years).

Andy Janovich

Andy Janovich was drafted by the Broncos in 2016 in the sixth-round (pick 176).

In 2019, Janovich was named the Broncos’ 2019 Ed Block Courage Award recipient.

Janovich blocked for running backs like C.J. Anderson, Devontae Booker, Jamaal Charles, Royce Freeman, and Phillip Lindsay.

The Broncos traded fullback Andy Janovich to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 2021 seventh-round draft pick last season.

Kyle Johnson

Kyle Johnson was with the Denver Broncos from 2002 to 2006 before being waived and brought back by Mike Shanahan.

Johnson played at Syracuse in college and was drafted in the fifth round by Carolina before joining the Broncos in 2002.

He caught eight touchdown passes and ran for a score.
