DENVER NUGGETS

The sports world appreciated Nikola Jokic’s greatness Tuesday

Apr 2, 2025, 9:52 AM

Nikola Jokic carried the Denver Nuggets in Tuesday’s 2OT loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, posting just the third 60-point triple double in NBA history. His heroics helped the Nuggets jump out to an early lead, and kept the team in the game down the stretch. By many metrics, it was the best game that he has ever played in his career, and the basketball world, including the opposing Timberwolves, took note.

“It was at one point we was just like, bruh, we hope you miss,” Edwards said.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker, the cousin of MVP frontrunner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, also didn’t hesitate to speak on Jokic’s greatness.

Julis Randle was the next member of the team who was asked about Jokic’s historic performance, and looked to be dumbfounded by the things that are a nightly occurrence at Ball Arena.

“I told him, he’s incredible. That dude is absolutely ridiculous… That s— was unbelievable… He’s doin all type of crazy s— out there. I don’t even know how to explain it.”

Many media members took note of Jokic’s game, highlighted by Jay Williams, who talked about Jokic on ESPN’s First Take Wednesday morning, continuing the praise from the night before. Williams even said that Jokic is currently “outpacing” NBA legends like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O’Neal.

It wasn’t just the basketball world who took note of Jokic’s 61-10-10 performance. Pat Surtain II, the 2024 NFL Defensive Player of the Year and star Denver Broncos cornerback, made sure to give his Denver neighbor some love.

Even though Jokic probably won’t win a fourth MVP this season, everyone knows how great he is. He scored the most points ever in a triple double on Tuesday night, and while it wasn’t enough to get the victory, it showed the basketball world that he’s the best player in the league at this moment.
