Report: Bob Myers, who won four titles with Warriors, a possible Nuggets GM target

The Denver Nuggets will need a new general manager this offseason, and Bob Myers could be a name to watch.
Myers won four titles as the GM of the Golden State Warriors, claiming the NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. He oversaw a group that included Steve Kerr at head coach, along with future Hall of Famers Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durtant for part of those epic runs.
This report from Evan Sidery of Forbes caught a lot of people’s attention on Tuesday afternoon, just hours after the Nuggets fired GM Calvin Booth and head coach Michael Malone.
One name to keep an eye on as it relates to the Nuggets’ vacant GM opening: Bob Myers.
Building a contender around Nikola Jokic could intrigue Myers to return:
“If I was building a team to win a championship, Nikola Jokic would be my first pick,” Myers said earlier this season. pic.twitter.com/qyk950ye0H

That quote from Myers about Nikola Jokic is pretty darn interesting, and he could be looking to get back into the executive game after leaving the Warriors in May of 2023. Myers was the GM from 2012-2023 and has been doing television work for ESPN ever since.
Bob Myers, who won NBA Executive of the Year in 2015 and 2017 is only 50-years-old and clearly knows how to build a dynasty. He also played college basketball at UCLA from 1993-1997. He quickly transitioned into being a sports agent before becoming an executive.
Is this something Nuggets owner Josh Kroenke would explore? Frankly, he’d be crazy not to, as Myers has an amazing resume. Myers also has great relationships with a lot of agents around the league, and if Denver wants to make some big trades this offseason, perhaps centered around Jamal Murray or Michael Porter Jr., those contacts would help.
For now, we’re just keeping an eye on this, but let’s officially call Bob Myers a name to watch as the Nuggets GM search heats up this summer.
