Beyond the Badge – Sergeant Vinnie Montez

This week 104.3 The Fan salutes Sergeant Vinnie Montez of the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Montez grew up in Boulder, idolizing Ponch and John from CHIPs, later serving as a Law Enforcement Explorer for the Lafayette and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.  In 1998, he realized his dream…being appointed a deputy sheriff for Boulder County.

After twenty five years, his journey has come full circle – from working in the Jail and Patrol Divisions, the Drug Task Force, to having recently been appointed as the Sheriff’s Office Cadet Advisor.  Teaching and mentoring a new generation of law enforcement officers, endeavoring to install the character qualities of compassion, generosity, integrity and service to others.

And also…laughter!  Sgt. Montez began doing standup comedy in 2007 and has shared the stage with nationally-renowned comedians such as Paul Rodriguez.  He also produces comedy shows benefiting organizations such as ReGroup Foundation, Meals on Wheels, the Colorado Police Officers Foundation and more.
