Nuggets’ JaMychal Green declines $7.6 million player option

Denver Nuggets’ JaMychal Green has reportedly declined his $7.6 million player option for next season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

During the 2021 season Green averaged 8.1 points per game in 58 games and shot 39.9% from three with Denver.

Will Barton also opted-out a few days ago, and if the team wants to bring back Green and Barton they will be bumping up against the luxury tax line of $136 million. Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon combine to cost $78.4 million next season.

Green inked a two-year, $14.8 million contract with Denver before the 2020-21 season. He has played for the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers and Nuggets during his seven years in the NBA.

In 420 career regular-season games, Green owns averages of 8.1 points and 6.0 rebounds.

After point guard Jamal Murray suffered a season-ending torn ACL in April, Green’s presence and play in the rotation helped the Nuggets maintain a strong standing in the West.
