Chase Dollander is arguably the most hyped pitching prospect in Colorado Rockies history, so it was surprising that his first-ever Cactus League start didn’t create more of a buzz.
But the 2023 first-round pick showed signs that the long-term hope in him could be justified, striking out three batters in a two-inning starting appearance Monday to open a spring-training game against the San Francisco Giants.
Dollander also gave up a solo home run to San Francisco’s Jung Hoo-Lee.
Meanwhile, the Rockies’ early power surge in spring training continued as Michael Toglia clobbered his second home run, this one off San Francisco’s Justin Verlander.
