Sidney Crosby responds to buzz around playing with fellow Nova Scotian Nathan MacKinnon

Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are in town Tuesday to take on the Colorado Avalanche and Nathan MacKinnon. This matchup always sparks the question of the possibility of the two Nova Scotian superstars playing together in the NHL, as the two friends have lots of experience training together in the offseason.
Crosby was asked about the possibility of teaming up with the reigning Hart Memorial Trophy winner after morning skate on Tuesday.
“I’m sure there’s a lot of hypotheticals out there,” Crosby said.
For the last few years, Crosby’s name has been brought up around the NHL Trade Deadline, always connected with the Avalanche. While it seems like a very far-fetched reality, it would be a very fun one for Avs fans.
The recent 4 Nations Face-Off also further triggered these rumors, as it was the first time the two stars were able to team up together, as they helped Team Canada win the inaugural edition of the tournament. MacKinnon was named MVP of the tournament while Crosby recorded five points for the Canadiens.
While the idea of them both wearing an Avalanche sweater is very enticing, Colorado would have to give up a lot of assets for the 37-year-old legend. The Avs have been very active with trades this season as general manager Chris MacFarland tries to restructure the team to make a push for the Stanley Cup, and all the moves that have been made aren’t on the same timeline as a possible Crosby trade.
Penguins PR wasn’t too fond of the question, and responded by shouting, “You’ll see them together again at the Olympics!”
They obviously don’t want to lose Crosby.
For now, both Crosby and MacKinnon are focused on tonight’s matchup at Ball Arena, as the Avalanche are just two points behind the Minnesota Wild for third place in the Central Division.
