Avalanche captain has new series documenting road back to potential return

It has been almost three years since Gabriel Landeskog, the captain and the heart of the Colorado Avalanche, has played in a game for the team. Many fans have been wondering if they will ever see Landeskog back on the ice and what has been happening in his rehab.

The last memory of the Swede for many is him skating a lap around Amalie Arena after Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals, hoisting the cup over his head. He fought through his knee injury long to help bring a third Stanley Cup to Denver, but has suffered the consequences since with multiple setbacks and surgeries.

On Wednesday, Fresh Tape Media announced the company has been working with Landeskog to document his “journey of injury, identity & resilience,” and will be premiering the series, “A Clean Sheet,” on Sunday.

Landeskog will undoubtedly be the last player to ever don the No. 92 sweater for the Avalanche, as his contributions since being drafted to the team have been of the utmost importance. He is in the top-10 of almost every important offensive stat in franchise history, had one of the most important assists in team history on a goal in Game 6 in 2022, and has been key in reviving the franchise and bringing it back to the top of the hockey universe.

It’s understandable why fans have expressed frustration recently with Landeskog, especially with another setback he suffered earlier this week. They are tired of the uncertainty and just want a clear-cut yes or no on if he will play again.

This docuseries should shine some light on all the hardships he has gone through, especially the ones the fans haven’t seen. No one has returned to NHL hockey at a high level after undergoing these procedures Landeskog has endured, and he is hoping to be the first.

The first episode, “Half of it is Mental,” debuts Sunday at 10:00 a.m. MT on TNT and TruTV.
