Rockies odds update: 2025 win totals and a next-to-zero chance to make some noise

Rockies baseball is right around the corner! The 2025 season will be the first time the Rockies will be on the field without Charlie Blackmon in a long time, but is also the 30th anniversary of Coors Field and another opportunity for the Rockies’ young talent to make a leap. However, the team is still projected to do a whole lot of nothing as they try and make it back to the postseason for the first time since 2018.
Are the Rockies projected to be the worst team in the entire MLB this season?
2025 Win Toal – 59.5 wins
The 2024 Rockies’ line was the exact same, and the team went over this number, finishing with a 61-101 record. The team has been hot in Spring Training so far, but the story was the same last year as the Rockies quickly cooled off once the regular season started.
Players like Nolan Jones, Brenton Doyle and Ezequiel Tovar will bring their fair share of contributions, but what will the rest of the team bring? The pitching staff posted a league-worst 5.47 ERA in 2024, an astronomically poor number that was 0.47 worse than the 29th-ranked team. The bullpen has always been a concern, and with no big moves to try and improve it, that will likely be an issue again.
The only team with a line lower than Colorado’s is the Chicago White Sox (54.5), who set the MLB record for most losses in a season in 2024 with 121. That’s pretty bad company to be in.
Worst Regular Season Record – +210
The White Sox are the favorite in this category to start the season, sitting at -210 to take home the MLB’s worst record for the second consecutive season, with the Rockies being close behind. While the Rockies have had plenty of seasons in which they finished with one of the worst records in the MLB, they still have not finished a season with the worst record in the entire league.
Is this the year that changes?
To Make the Playoffs – +5,500
Rockies and playoffs in the same sentence? It sounds weird to everyone in Denver, and it sure sounds weird to the bookmakers, who give them a very slim chance to do so. These odds are even worse than the White Sox (+5,000). The Miami Marlins are the only other team in the league with odds longer than +1,000 as they sit at +2,500 to make the playoffs.
To make things even better, the Rockies have one of the most difficult schedules in the entire league, which shows the high level of talent (outside of Colorado) in the NL West.
To Win NL West – +50,000
Once again, these are the longest odds for any team in the league to win its respective division, and rightfully so. The NL West is absolutely loaded with the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks. While these odds for Colorado wouldn’t be much better in any of the other five divisions in the league, this line is a perfect representation of one of the least talented teams in the history of baseball having to go up against one of the most talented teams in the history of baseball.
To Win the World Series – +50,000
No comment.
The books have no faith in the Rockies, as is the same with many fans who go to Coors Field to see the view and go hang out on The Rooftop rather than watch baseball (can you blame them?). The goal for this season should be to try and develop the young bats, and the team has a fair amount of fun young players.
