Broncos quarterback Bo Nix had a busy weekend at Ball Arena

Mar 17, 2025, 1:54 PM

This past weekend was a busy one at Ball Arena with two Nuggets games on Friday and Saturday and a thrilling, emotional overtime victory for the Avalanche on Sunday. Over the weekend, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was in the house taking in the sights and scenes of Ball Arena for the first time.

For Friday’s game against the injury-riddled Los Angeles Lakers, Nix established himself as a certified Nuggets fan as he met DeAndre Jordan pregame and held up a sign that said “Beat LA.” Nix was courtside before the game, watching Nikola Jokic and other Nuggets players warm up, before moving up to a suite for the game. He had his No. 1 receiver, Courtland Sutton, with him the whole time.

When asked who throws a better deep ball between Nix and Jokic, Sutton didn’t hesitate to say that the three-time MVP has a prettier ball than Nix does.

On Sunday, he made his way back to the arena, this time sitting on the glass, to see the Avalanche take down the Dallas Stars in overtime. The Broncos signal caller made sure to keep his arm loose while doing so.

After Cale Makar netted the game-winning goal in overtime Sunday, Nix practically got in on the team’s celebration as they were just on the other side of the glass from him.

Nix isn’t the first Bronco to make his way to Ball Arena this offseason, as Defensive Player of the Year Pat Surtain II made his way to an Avalanche game back on Feb. 28. What’s different from Nix’s appearance to some others is that he waited a full season to establish his importance in the city and get the fans behind him, unlike Russell Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett, who both came to Ball Arena as one of their first public events after coming to the Broncos.

It’s clear that he understands his importance to the city of Denver after leading the Broncos to their first playoff berth in nine year. He is currently up there with Jokic, Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar as the most popular athletes in the city right now, and his popularity will only grow if he builds off his successful rookie campaign.
