Bucks are giving the Nuggets a golden opportunity with latest injury news

The stars will not be on the floor at Ball Arena Wednesday night, as the Milwaukee Bucks will be without their two top stars and the Denver Nuggets will likely be without Nikola Jokic for a sixth consecutive game. Both Giannis Antetokounmpo (foot) and Damian Lillard (blood clot) will not be on the floor for the Bucks.

Antetokounmpo is quietly putting together one of the best seasons of his career, averaging around 30 points, 12 rebounds and six assists per game while being third in the most recent MVP ladder. For Lillard, he’s averaging around 25 points and seven assists per game. While the world is focused on other duos in the NBA, these two have gone under the radar as one of the top pairings in the league.
Injuries are the worst thing in sports. No one wants them to happen, they hurt teams’ chances of winning championships, and the fans don’t get to see the stars they paid money to watch. However, from the perspective of the team, it’s a break because the opponent doesn’t have their best players out on the floor to compete.
The Nuggets have to take advantage of this opportunity. After a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday in which the Nuggets blew a 13-point lead, Denver needs to find momentum in the next two games before the Minnesota Timberwolves come to town. However, as seen in Denver’s recent wins over the injured Los Angeles Lakers or over the Golden State Warriors without Jokic, injuries don’t equal a free victory.
In the first matchup between the Nuggets and Bucks this season, Milwaukee’s duo combined for 47 points in a Bucks victory. Tonight, they’ll have to get larger contributions from Kyle Kuzma and Brook Lopez to pull off the upset.
Denver needs to win every game possible down the stretch as the chase for the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference heats up more and more, and Wednesday’s game, whether or not Jokic and Aaron Gordon play, is a golden opportunity to get a critical win.
