Broncos president Damani Leech says the team wants to play in Berlin this year

Mar 31, 2025, 3:50 PM

Denver Broncos president Damani Leech dropped an interesting nugget at the NFL’s annual meeting in Palm Beach on Monday.

While we don’t know yet if the Broncos will have an international game in 2025, it’s something Leech and the team want.

Denver is scheduled to play road games at the Colts and Jets, but both of them have already been picked for a game overseas. Indianapolis will host one in Berlin, Germany while New York will play one in London, England.

Leech has his eyes of the former.

“Berlin is the first choice with London being the second choice,” Leech told the assembled media.

With the schedule coming out at some point in the middle of May, we should know sooner rather than later if the Broncos will get picked. Leech said that head coach Sean Payton is pushing for this hard.

“On the Berlin side, I’d personally say I was surprised. Sean really vocalized his interest in playing in Germany. I think some of that goes back to [that] he likes to travel, I think he likes the team being alone-ish together and what that does from a culture standpoint with the team. He likes the idea of being first and playing in a city like Berlin for the first time in the NFL regular season,” Leech said.

In their history, the Broncos have played in London twice. Once in 2010 and another time in 2022. They’re 1-1 in those games. For Leech, he thinks international play is good for the entire NFL.

“Selfishly, with my international background, I love the international games. I think they’re special—not just for the teams that are playing—but I think they’re special for the league overall where we are now and where we can be going,” Leech said.

This one has a big stay tuned banner on it. But if Leech and Payton gets their way, the Broncos will be taking their talents abroad this upcoming season.
