The Denver NWSL team has been a hot topic in the Denver sports scene recently with major announcements of both their permanent stadium site and temporary stadium site. The team will begin play in 2026 as the seventh professional team in Denver, and fans are jumping at the bit to see them play.

The club reached 10,000 season ticket deposits on Monday, making them the quickest team to reach that number in the league’s short history. These aren’t official tickets, but fans who want a chance at a season ticket when they release must place a deposit.
A deposit for a general ticket costs $30.30 per seat, while a deposit for a premium seat will take a bigger chunk out of fans’ wallets at $100. These deposits are non-refundable and do not guarantee a season ticket when they are officially released. The club also doesn’t have any information listed on the distinction between general tickets and premium tickets on the ticket deposit policy.
This is big news for both the city and for women’s sports. It shows, from a soccer standpoint, that fans want to see more soccer in town, and hopefully more successful soccer as the Rapids have finished in the top-10 in the MLS in just one of the past eight seasons. It also shows that fans are excited to see games in more accessible parts of town rather than having to venture out to Commerce City and Dick’s Sporting Goods Park to catch a game.
From a women’s sports standpoint, it shows that the city of Denver has a large fanbase of fans who want to see women’s sports in town. This committed group of fans and investors alike show that the city wants women’s sports in town and will pay to see them play. After the city was not awarded a team in the recent round of expansions in the WNBA, what’s happening with the NWSL team could pave the way for Denver getting a team in the W down the road as both leagues continue to grow.
With just a year until the Denver NWSL team is expected to take the field for the first time in the Mile High City, momentum continues to build on a monumental milestone for Denver and women’s sports as a whole.
