Latest mock has the Denver Broncos adding a talented WR, Buffs’ stars landing in different spots

With pro days now being over for prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, the picture has gotten clearer as to what certain NFL teams think of what prospects. ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper released his latest mock draft Tuesday morning, and it looks much different than the mock his colleague Field Yates put out a week ago. For Buffs fans, the two stars both land in different homes after having a productive outing at the CU NFL Showcase, while the Broncos draft a different offensive duo in this week’s edition.
2. Cleveland Browns – Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado
Hunter was reportedly not going to work out at Colorado’s Pro Day last week, but ended up running routes for Shedeur Sanders during the position drills portion of the day. He had no gloves and a baggy T-shirt on, showing that Friday’s workout might not have been the most serious for him. However, he still put on a good performance for the scouts in attendance with his shifty releases and glue-like hands.
Kiper has him going to the Cleveland Browns, a new trend that has him going ahead of Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter. The Browns had a large contingent in Boulder last week, including owner Jimmy Haslam, and liked what they saw from the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner. While Cleveland still has a lot of problems to solve at the quarterback position (Kenny Pickett is the only healthy QB on the roster), Hunter would still be the top available prospect on the board in this scenario after the Tennessee Titans draft Miami QB Cam Ward with the first pick.
Hunter would slot in opposite of Denzel Ward on the defensive side of the football, and with Greg Newsome II in the nickel, Cleveland would suddenly have a scary group in the secondary. While there wouldn’t be anyone to throw Hunter the ball on offense, this fit still makes sense for Cleveland and would put Hunter in a tie for the highest-drafted Colorado player in history (Bo Matthews, 1974).
2024 stats: 96 receptions, 1,258 yards, 16 total touchdowns, 35 tackles, 11 passes defended, four interceptions
9. New Orleans Saints – Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
Sanders’ landing spot has become very difficult to predict as of late. The New York Giants have signed multiple veteran quarterbacks, the Browns look set on taking a skill player, and not a lot of other teams in the Draft need a quarterback. The New Orleans Saints have a lot of needs on the roster, and drafting Sanders would set him up for failure. Many times in the past, a talented QB who has been drafted by a team with a weak roster is set up for failure.
While this pick fills a need for the Saints, they are still years away from competing, and this move would only stunt Sanders’ growth. The Saints have Derek Carr and Spencer Rattler, who can do enough for a team to keep growing while they fill other needs.
The patting the football discourse from Sanders’ workout on Friday is also a ridiculous argument. Tom Brady patted the ball, Patrick Mahomes does it, Matt Stafford does it. Many great QBs pat or have patted the ball when throwing, and it’s not the end of the world if he does it.
2024 stats: 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, 74.0 completion percentage
20. Denver Broncos – Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona
This is a fun one for the Denver Broncos and Bo Nix, as McMillan is a freak of nature out of the Grand Canyon State. The 6-foot-5 receiver posted back-to-back seasons with at least 1,300 receiving yards in his final two seasons at Arizona. He ran a 4.48 40-yard dash at Arizona’s Pro Day in March, a very impressive time for a player as big as he is. He can jump high, has great hands, and would be a great addition for Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.
McMillan is a threat at all three levels, and Colorado football fans are familiar with him after his performance against the Buffs in 2023, which included a magnificent one-handed touchdown catch against Travis Hunter.
2024 stats: 84 receptions, 1,319 yards, eight touchdowns
51. Denver Broncos – Quinshon Judkins, RB, Ohio State
Judkins is a very talented prospect in the backfield. While he’s a different back than Omarion Hampton or Ashton Jeanty are, he could still provide an impact on all three downs. He rushed for at least 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons in college, despite splitting carries in 2024, and was a reliable safety valve for his quarterbacks all three years, averaging 7.63 yards per reception. Judkins also posted a 4.48 40-yard dash this offseason with explosive numbers in the vertical and broad jumps. He has the tools to take over as the lead back in Denver’s backfield given the offense and other weapons around him.
2024 stats: 194 carries, 1,060 rushing yards, 16 total touchdowns
With the 2025 NFL Draft just over two weeks away, these projections are very likely to change again, as nothing is set in stone until the names are called. With no more workouts scheduled, all these prospects can do is sit back and wait to see who wants to select them.
