D.J. Jones will return to the Denver Broncos.

The veteran defensive lineman agreed on a contract extension to keep him around the defensive line. First reported by DNVR, the deal will give Jones a raise to approximately $13 million per year, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

It is the third contract agreed to by the Broncos on the final day before the legal-tampering period begins. The Broncos reached deals with backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham and long snapper Mitchell Fraboni earlier in the day.

IN KEEPING D.J. JONES, BRONCOS OPT FOR CONTINUITY

The contract allows the Broncos to keep a defensive lineman who was arguably their best run defender last season. In 2024, D.J. Jones had the fourth-best run-stop rate among 137 interior defensive linemen with at least 100 run-defense snaps, per data compiled by Pro Football Focus.

Further, Jones fit the chemistry of the room perfectly, which was part of why defensive end Zach Allen spoke in January about wanting Jones to remain with the team.

“He’s one of my favorite teammates ever, both off the field and on,” Allen said Jan. 13. “What he does for us on first, second down is huge. And the energy he just brings to work every day is awesome. So, obviously, it’s a business, but selfishly, I’d love to keep playing with him.”

And as it turns out, D.J. Jones will.
