A possible top Broncos wide receiver target is officially a free agent

The Denver Broncos are in need of another wide receiver to help elevate Bo Nix and the rest of the offense. The team has plenty of draft capital to look at a rookie, along with plenty of salary cap space to go after a veteran. They got good news regarding one of the top veterans on the market Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Rams have released Super Bowl LVI MVP Cooper Kupp Wednesday after they weren’t able to find a trade for the star receiver.

While Denver was not going to trade for Kupp, they should now be in the mix to sign him. This addition would instantly bolster Denver’s receiving corps while giving Nix a safety valve who always finds a way to get open.
Kupp hit his peak in 2021 when he became the fourth player to win the NFL Triple Crown since the AFL-NFL merger. Kupp was First-team All-Pro, third in the MVP vote and the AP Offensive Player of the Year in the regular season before he led the Rams to victory in the Super Bowl. He finished the year with 145 catches for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns.
In 2024, Kupp lined up in the slot on 72.8% of the Rams’ offensive plays. His presence on the inside would complement both Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims Jr. very well, as those two played the majority of their snaps lined up on the outside on 2024.
Kupp’s hands would also be a great asset for Sean Payton’s offense, as he has dropped just five passes in the previous three seasons (Sutton dropped nine in 2024 alone). He’s only had more than two drops in a season once, coming in 2021 when he was targeted almost 191 times, the ninth-most in NFL history.
If the Broncos were to pursue him, one concern would be the injury history. He has been bothered with a multitude of ankle issues in recent years and tore his left ACL in 2018.
Kupp would be a phenomenal addition for Denver, but the price has to be right if George Paton wants to bring the aging star to the Mile High City. The Broncos already signed one wide receiver in Free Agency, will they make it two?
