The Rockies got bad news before the regular season even started

There isn’t much light at the end of the tunnel for the Colorado Rockies heading into the 2025 season. From having Owner Dick Monfort complaining about how the Los Angeles Dodgers spend more money than him to the oddsmakers giving the team zero chance to do anything except have the worst record in the league, fans have been preparing for another season at the bottom of the MLB.
The Rockies got more bad news Thursday when it was reported that Charlie Condon, the club’s No. 3 overall draft pick in 2024, suffered a “significant” wrist injury when diving for a ball in the outfield.
#Rockies top hitting prospect OF/3B Charlie Condon is believed to have suffered a "significant" injury to his left wrist, according to MLB Pipeline.
Colorado will know more about the severity of the issue following more imaging.

Condon, 21, is a right-handed outfielder from Georgia who had one of the biggest bats in the 2024 MLB Draft. In his senior season at Georgia, he batted .433 with 37 home runs, both of which were first in the SEC.
The 6-foot-6 slugger is Colorado’s No. 2 prospect and the No. 29 prospect in the entire MLB. After being drafted by Colorado, he played for the Spokane Indians in 2024, the High-A affiliate for the Rockies.
Back in January, Rockies general manager Bill Schmidt hadn’t made a decision on what level Condon would be playing at in 2025, but it’s not like Condon is a guy who will just spend his whole career in the minor leagues. With how talented of a hitter he is and his home park being Coors Field, a healthy Condon would’ve been in the major leagues at some point by the end of 2025.
Now, that’s up in the air. The team is awaiting a follow-up examination after he receives more imaging on the wrist to determine when he could possibly get back out on the field.
For the Rockies, there are just 10 games left on the schedule in the Cactus League before the team opens the season at Tampa Bay on March 28.
