The Colorado Rockies received bad news last week when out was announced that Charlie Condon, the club’s No. 2 overall prospect, had injured his wrist when diving for a ball in the outfield. The club was waiting for test results to see exactly how much time their top hitting prospect would miss.
After the tests came back, it was determined that Condon had suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist, an injury that does not require surgery to heal. Condon was wearing a brace on the wrist in the Rockies’ dugout yesterday.

The expectation is that Condon will be in a brace for about four weeks before beginning to strengthen the wrist. At six weeks, he should be back to baseball activities. Avoiding any ligament damage and surgery is a huge break for Condon and the Rockies.
Condon played 25 games for the Spokane Indians in 2024, the High-A affiliate of the Rockies, and batted .180 with six extra-base hits in 109 plate appearances. While the adjustment from college ball to the pros hasn’t been the smoothest for him, the 6-foot-6 slugger has tons of untapped potential with his bat.
At Georgia, he batted .410 with 62 home runs in just two seasons. He led the SEC in home runs and batting average in his last season, which was why the Rockies selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft.
The Rockies have seven games left in the Cactus League before the team travels to Tampa Bay to open the regular season against the Rays at the end of the month. Kyle Freeland was recently announced as the team’s starter for Opening Day as the 2025 season draws closer.
