As it turned out, the leak of the Colorado Rockies’ new City Connect uniform was on the nose.
The team unveiled the full uniform Saturday, along with the accompanying explanation to go with the look.
Unlike the City Connect uniforms worn the last three seasons, this one starts with the Rockies’ primary color — purple — as a base, albeit with a different shade, referred to as “psychic purple.” Accentuating the purple are “cobalt blue, razor pink and laser orange.”
The inspiration lies in Colorado’s sunrises and sunsets — “a blend of bluebird skies against the backdrop of purple mountain majesty, highlighted by brilliant orange and pink, bright and hopeful.”
From sunrise to sunset.

This uniform also makes use of a primary Rockies logo — the familiar baseball-on-mountains design that the team has used since its inaugural season — although tailoring it to the new color scheme. The logo is on the jersey and cap.
The jersey is also a pullover jersey, as opposed to a traditional one with buttons going down the front. No other team uses a pullover jersey for a City Connect look.
Pullover jerseys reached their apex in the 1970s and 1980s — at the same time as when light-blue uniforms were at their peak around MLB.
The City Connect uniforms will make their debut next Saturday, April 18 for a home game against Washington. Colorado will also wear them on the following dates:
April 25 vs. Cincinnati Reds
May 9 vs. San Diego Padres
May 23 vs. New York Yankees
June 6 vs. New York Mets
June 20 vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
July 18 vs. Minnesota Twins
Aug. 1 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
Aug. 15 vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Aug. 29 vs. Chicago Cubs
Sep. 5 vs. San Diego Padres
Sep. 19 vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
IT REPLACES THE GREEN-AND-WHITE CITY CONNECT UNIFORM
Gone after a three-year run is the green-and-white look that borrowed heavily from the state license plate, both in color and in font for “Colorado.”
The club unveiled the look in 2023, and shortly thereafter began wearing a modified version of it, ditching the green pants for the home white pants — without pinstripes — usually worn with purple jerseys.
While wearing the green-and-white jerseys with green pants proved to be a bit of an eyesore, swapping out the pants created a unique and classy look that many were sad to see leave the team’s uniform closet.
Many MLB teams have used the City Connect program to create new color combinations with which to create merchandise, much like soccer clubs around the globe do with their second uniforms — colloquially called “change kits” by some within the sport.
The Rockies wasted little time marketing the new look, with a full range of jerseys, caps and assorted items already available at the team’s online store.
