Matt Peart will stick around to provide depth on the Denver Broncos’ offensive line.

The veteran tackle agreed on a 2-year contract just after the start of the “legal tampering” period. KUSA-Ch. 9’s Mike Klis was the first to report the move.

Peart’s return ensures the Broncos will have a pair of reserve offensive tackles with starting experience, with Peart as the primary reserve on the left side and Alex Palczewski as the top backup behind right tackle Mike McGlinchey.

A six-year veteran, Matt Peart started twice last season — once as a sixth offensive lineman and another time in place of left tackle Garett Bolles. Peart also started seven games in his four seasons (2020-23) with the New York Giants.

There was some question as to whether the Broncos would bring back Peart, given that they invested a 53-player roster spot in rookie Frank Crum last season. It’s rare for a team to have five offensive tackles on the primary roster, and the move was made with the intent of developing Crum for the long term.

The two-year deal for Matt Peart — as well as Palczewski having another two years of team control, with one more year on his rookie deal and then a restricted-free-agency year in 2026 — means the Broncos are backstopped with experience.

Peart is the fourth player re-signed by the Broncos in the last 24 hours, following Jarrett Stidham, Mitchell Fraboni and D.J. Jones.
